Thorpe Rolling Company, Cheshire, Connecticut
The Thorpe Rolling Pin Company was in the center of Cheshire, approximately where Main Street Cafè is now. The company sold rolling pins all over the country. Thorpe Rolling Pins are the finest quality hardwood maple rolling pins available. They feature an unbreakable steel center rod, streamlined handles, and special bearings. The heavy weight and perfect balance of these pins make rolling out any dough easy. They were designed to last a lifetime, and are known for their durability and industrial grade versions. The pins have often been described as “unbreakable” and have been favored by highly skilled bakers since the 1930’s.
The company’s name was burned into each wooden cylinder. Ruel Miller, the current Cheshire Grange President, worked at this company. Thorpe Rolling Pins were assembled at the Cheshire site, but the actual wood lathing was done elsewhere.
