Formerly known as the Antiques and Collectibles, the Market is on the same day as Connecticut Open House day. Our Boutique in the Shed will be open as well.
The Society event is held from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
In addition, it is the 82nd year of our neighbor, the First Congregational Church’s strawberry festival. It features farm-fresh strawberry shortcake along with grilled foods, handmade crafts, amusements and entertainment that are fun for the entire family. Their event is 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The Give Local program is an incredible opportunity for the Society.
We are part of a large pool of area non-profits and an even larger group of possible donors. Last year we were awarded a $500 prize for participating and having a large number of donors within a certain time period.
Giving begins on April 23 at 7 a.m. and ends on April 24 at 7:30 p.m.
The website is https://www.givelocalccf.org/organizations/cheshire-historical-society or search for Give Local. There are a number of local Cheshire groups participating so take a look and support these many important groups. Give Local is an exciting activity with a leader board and prizes that are outright or matching.
I hope you might consider being involved and making a donation of any amount during this giving period.
Please come to our 68th Annual Meeting at the Hitchcock-Phillips House.
We’ll have a brief business meeting that will include a vote on By-Laws revision (which will be sent to you in a separate e-mail).
Our new slate will be presented for your approval.
We will outline some of our 2019 Goals including a $2,000 award from Home Depot’s Team Depot.
Following our business activities, we’ll entertain you with some Spirits Alive-style stories of people who lived in or owned the Hitchcock-Phillips House, including a portrayal of young Rufus Hitchcock with his parents on the day of his “breeching” (the first time he is deemed old enough to wear pants and leave his baby clothes behind). It will be a fun evening.
